Why North Oaks Homeowners Choose Grin's Irrigation

North Oaks is unlike any other city we serve: a fully private community where the Home Owners' Association owns the roads and parks, wrapped around Pleasant Lake — and a city with two different watering rulebooks depending on which side of it you live on. There is no municipal utility. The east side buys water from White Bear Township, which confines irrigation to odd/even days within strict 6–10 morning and evening windows. The west side buys from Shoreview, whose seasonal rules — before 11am or after 5pm, odd/even, May 15 through September 15 — apply even to private wells and surface-water draws.

The first thing we establish on any North Oaks project is which supplier serves the property, because a controller programmed for the wrong side of the line is out of compliance from day one. We keep both schedules on file and set every system accordingly.

The properties themselves are classic North Oaks: multi-acre wooded lots on hilly glacial terrain where kettle depressions stay damp and exposed knolls parch. Estate-scale systems here run 15–25 zones, and our installation crews work to HOA standards on the private road network — clean trenching, restored turf, no surprises for the association.

Soil Conditions

Wooded, hilly terrain with sandy loam over glacial till. Lots here are large, private, and heavily treed, with Pleasant Lake at the center of the community — kettle depressions hold moisture while exposed knolls dry out days earlier than their own backyards.

Local Regulations

North Oaks has no municipal water utility — the east side purchases water from White Bear Township, where irrigation is limited to odd/even days within 6–10am and 6–10pm windows only, while the west side buys from Shoreview, whose May 15–September 15 rules (before 11am or after 5pm, odd/even) apply even to private wells and surface water draws. Roads and parks are privately owned by the North Oaks Home Owners' Association.

What Our Customers Say

Grin's is the best! We've worked with a few other sprinkler companies in the past and always had communication issues, poor work, or they wouldn't fix things properly. Finally we found Grin's and we've been very happy with them!

Grant Meyer

I picked Grin's after getting a few different bids for a brand new irrigation system and couldn't be happier with my choice. They made the whole process painless from start to finish.

Chris Friedemann

Viktor and Vasily Grin do excellent work. Their communication was proactive and frequent. The irrigation and sod work was a high quality, professional installation. I highly recommend hiring them for your project. They will be our first call for all future projects.
